We invite professionals who serve older adults in the DRCOG region to join us for a key informants session to share your thoughts about the needs and challenges facing older adults you serve.

As the designated Area Agency on Aging (also known as AAA), DRCOG offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of older adults, individuals living with disabilities and their caregivers in Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson and Gilpin counties. Federal and state funding makes it possible for these people to remain in their homes and communities by providing nutritious meals, transportation, in-home care, legal assistance, caregiver support and more.
The four-year plan
The federal Older Americans Act requires local area agencies on aging to develop and publish plans that identify priorities and objectives over the course of a four-year period. These plans are critical to guiding how area agencies on aging can continue to provide services as the aging population increases and funding for services decreases.
Public input is critical
At least one year before the plan is made public, staff at DRCOG AAA schedule meetings in partnership with other community organizations throughout the region.
- Participants are asked to fill out a survey responding to questions for rating services provided by AAA and for identifying the needs and challenges facing older adults in our region.
- Facilitated conversations at the regional meetings provide the opportunity for participants to explore and discuss services not included in the surveys for the AAA to consider offering to help older adults age well in their homes and communities.
- Input generated by the survey responses and facilitated conversations is crucial to determining the priorities and objectives for AAA services for the years 2027 through 2031.
